In the Bible, the united monarchy lasted for about 80 years (c. 1012–931 BCE) before splitting. The northern Kingdom of Israel then lasted for about 200 years until 722 BCE when it was conquered by the Assyrians. The southern Kingdom of Judah continued for a longer period, lasting about 350 years until 587/586 BCE when it was destroyed by the Babylonians.

Based on the biblical narrative, the kingdoms of Israel and Judah existed in several phases, from the establishment of a unified kingdom around 1050 BCE until Judah's fall in 586 BCE.

The United Kingdom (c. 1050–931 BCE)

The biblical account describes a united monarchy that existed for approximately 120 years under three kings:

Saul: The first king, anointed around 1050 BCE, reigned for about 40 years.

David: Succeeded Saul and became king over all Israel around 1004 BCE, ruling for 40 years.

Solomon: David's son, reigned for 40 years before his death around 931 BCE.

The Divided Kingdom (c. 931–586 BCE)

After Solomon's death, the kingdom was divided due to internal strife.

Southern Kingdom of Judah (c. 931–586 BCE)

Duration: Lasted for a longer period, approximately 345 years.

Capital: Its capital city was Jerusalem.
